DRACO

Draco Lupin - Canadian Import - Alaskan Malamute
Born September 23, 2005 - 27" at the Withers - 70 pounds

In the Spring, 2008, Kris debuted her  Alaskan Malamute, Draco in Agility.  Draco was imported from Canadian Sled lines and strangely enough doesn't really love the snow.  On the other hand, he swims so much he has to be dragged out of the pool almost every day.  Draco is the largest of all of Kris' dogs although growing up with German Shepherd's she has always loved big dogs and is happy to have one in the family.

Northern breeds hold a special place in her heart due to their free spirited personalities, endless energy and the unique training challenges they bring to the table.   Below is Draco with Kris playing with his favorite toy; an old rope he found on the property.

Born September 23, 2005, Draco now stands 27" at the withers and weighs in at a super athletic 70 pounds.  He moves with a lightness to his step with beautiful flexibility although with his huge stride, it can be difficult for him to corner on an agility course at the speed he wants to run..

Draco was an extremely mischievous puppy and demonstrated strong resource guarding behaviors which got him into loads of trouble.  He's a daily challenge and if not watched closely he can escape almost any enclosure and get himself into trouble.

Kris has spent endless hours teaching him that just because he wants something doesn't mean he always gets what he wants due to intimidating others in the process.  Draco has an extremely high prey drive which needs to be managed which is getting better as continues in his training program.

Draco is always howling, expressing his opinion on everything from play time to announcing his arrival in class or as he escapes from his crate and is so very proud of himself.  He doesn't bark, but he sure howls constantly and doesn't mind if you howl right back to him.
