RUSHKA

LOLLIE P RUSHKA

MX, MXJ, EAC, EJC, EGC - Born - July 31, 1996 - 4/11/10
10" at the withers and 6.5 pounds

It's November 2009 and it's hard for me to believe that my first agility dog is now 13.5 years old.  It seems just like yesterday that my sister and I stumbled onto this great sport with our dogs one day while we were showing her Pomeranian in conformation.  Rushka is also my first Pomeranian and she was named after one of my Mom's Russian friends.  I have loved the unique name ever since I heard it even though it is commonly mispronounced it has always made me happy calling her Rushka.  Although she does have many nicknames, currently, THE NUT, being the most popular right now, Rushka is just the sweetest little dog you can meet.

Rushka first started her competition career in obedience and she did ok, but she was so small doing those "sits and downs" near all those big dogs that I never felt comfortable.  My sister and I would always try to line up together so her Cane Corso Mastiff would be next to her because they were friends even though the judges were often fearful for Rushka's safety being next to him.  We always assured them that they were fine together.

Rushka came from your typical back yard breeder.  There were dogs everywhere and the conditions were less than stellar.  My Mom saw the ad for Pomeranians in the local paper and we convinced my father to go see them.  It was a trailer up a hill in the woods and I think it scared all of us at first site.  We survived the visit and left with Rushka who was this tiny cream colored Pomeranian baby.  We almost came home with two, but my Dad said no and my Mom and I always wondered what happened to that little boy we left behind.

Rushka is very shy around new people, but she is fiercely loyal to those she loves.  She has always been a nervous little dog when she is out of her comfort zone so when my sister and I first saw agility we thought what a fun thing to do.  Since Rushka just loved to run I thought that since this game involved running it could give Rushka a wonderful outlet to run and train with me.
